Primarily papers dealing with the first heart xenotransplantation
in a newborn, performed at Loma Linda Medical Center by Dr.
Leonard Bailey and his team, October 26, 1984. The collection
includes correspondence, reports, minutes, financial documents,
legal documents, clippings, photographic material, audio and
video recordings. The largest bulk of material includes correspondence
(positive and negative) received by Dr. Bailey, Baby Fae and
her parents.

Loma Linda was purchased in 1905 by Elder John A. Burden acting
on E.G. White's counsel. Includes cups, dairy boxes and medicine
boxes, medical and surgical instruments, medicine bottles, plaques,

The university was founded as the Loma Linda College of Evangelists
in 1905 and chartered as the College of Medical Evangelists
in the State of California in 1909. The institution became Loma
Linda University on July 1, 1961. Consists of correspondence
from the President's office (Newton Gudron Evans, Edward Henry
Risley, Percy Tilson Magan, Walter Macpherson, Godfrey Tryggve
Anderson, V. Norskov Olsen, Norman J. Woods) as well as from
the offices of the vice presidents, the deans of the schools,
and the Director of University Library, financial statements,

American farmer and Baptist preacher who announced the imminent
coming of Christ and founded the Millerite movement, giving
rise to a group of Adventist bodies. Includes memorabilia from
William Miller's home.

Moran, Frank Adams, 1901-1977.

Chaplain, evangelist and pastor, missionary, and teacher. He
was member of the faculty at Loma Linda Academy for nine years
and at Loma Linda University for more than 30 years. In 1975,
at age 74, Elder Moran and his wife went to Youngberg Memorial
Hospital in Singapore where he was chaplain and taught classes
in personal evangelism in Southeast Asia Union College. Consists
of articles, artifacts, courses, Bible studies, pamphlets.

Pettis, Jerry L., 1916-1975.

He was the first member of the SDA Church to be elected to the
Congress of the United States (House of Representatives). Includes
articles, awards, bills, clippings, correspondence, diplomas,
memorabilia, photographs, pamphlets, press radio addresses,
releases, reports, resolutions, scrapbooks, speeches. In 1975
Jerry Pettis died when his private plane crashed. His wife,
Shirley (1975-1978), followed him in Congress. Her papers documenting
years served in Congress are also included in the collection.

history of Loma Linda.

Robinson, Dores Eugene, 1879-1957.

Secretary, compiler, and editor. In 1905 he married Ella White,
Ellen White's eldest granddaughter, whom he had met in Australia.
He continued as secretary and compiler for Mrs. White until
her death in 1915. The last years of his work were spent as
a staff member of the White Publications, first at Elmshaven
and then in Washington, D.C. Contains articles, Bible studies,
correspondence, manuscripts, pamphlets, photographs, and sermons.

A former medical secretary of the General Conference, he also
served for a number of years at the College of Medical Evangelists
and Loma Linda Sanitarium and Hospital. He was the first Seventh-day
Adventist man to graduate from the dietetic course, and also
the first to be admitted as a member to the American Dietetic
Association. At Loma Linda he organized the School of Dietetics
of the College of Medical Evangelists and served as its first
